KFAI Community Radio
KFAI, 90.3 FM and at www.kfai.org, is a volunteer-based community radio station that exists to broadcast information, arts and entertainment programming for an audience of diverse racial, social and economic backgrounds. By providing a voice for people not represented by mainstream media, KFAI increases understanding between peoples and communities, while fostering the values of democracy and social justice. KFAI broadcasts 88 locally produced programs, in 12 languages including French, Spanish, Hmong (Blue and White), Cambodian, Amharic, Eritrean, Oromo, Vietnamese, Hindi, Tagalog (Filipino) and Somali in the course of one-week. KFAI is expanding its coverage area in early November from 30 to 900 watts and converting to digital radio. With KFAI's stronger broadcast signal, the population of potential listeners will increase nearly five fold from 489,455 to 2,402,184 community residents (2000 US Census).
