More Egal Shidad

Good to hear from you, Steve. Within two weeks we will have another great Somali Health program broadcast in the Twin Cites, playing on this website, and ready to distribute on DVD. It covers sexually transmitted diseases.

Feedback on Egal Shidad

The Egal Shidad project is a wonderful idea. The selection of a very popular name  - Egal Shidad -that all Somalis associate with stigma was phenomenal. My agency, SomaliCAN, has shared this DVD with several community leaders and some consumers.  In fact, the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH Board) is working a local version of it for the Somali community in Ohio. You stimulated thoughts and perceptions of Somalis and non-Somalis alike in relation to mental illness! The inclusion of all kinds of perspectives- a professional, religious, traditional and layman concepts – has made the DVD an outstanding resource.
