Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN)
Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) began broadcasting in 1985 and provides non-commercial television programs to 52,000 cable homes and operates five channels in Saint Paul. Supported by an operating grant from Comcast Cable, SPNN's mission is to make media available, reflective, and responsive to the needs of people in Saint Paul in order to increase understanding and respect for the diversity of people and ideas in our democratic society. SPNN is dedicated to giving individuals and organizations access to televisions and video in order to better the civic fabric of our community.
Besides Egal Shidad, significant SPNN's initiatives this year include the Community Technology Empowerment Project, an AmeriCorps program that builds media and computer technology literacy to bridge the digital divide in Minneapolis - St Paul; Youth Programs, including after-school and summer internship programs; and other non-profit media parnterships.
