ZeroDivide, formerly known as The Community Technology Foundation, is an incorporated grantmaking public foundation that also operates several programs of its own:

  • The Hip hop Initiative looks at ways that Hip hop can be used as a community building and philanthropic vehicle;
  • The ZeroDivide Fellowship recruits leaders throughout the state of California to build a network of community leaders using and advocating for technology for social change; and
  • The Digital Storytelling Institute draws on technology tools to tell the untold stories of underserved communities through the organizations that serve them. BAVC, La Clínica, and ZeroDivide previously worked together in a previous cohort of DSI.
Founded in 1998, ZeroDivide has awarded more than 502 grants totaling more than $30 million to nearly 400 community-based organizations in 41 of the state’s 58 counties. Our mission is to improve the lives of Californians by increasing access to information and communications technology by and for underserved communities. ZeroDivide defines underserved communities as: low income, rural and inner city, people with disabilities, at-risk youth, immigrant and limited-English speaking and LGBT populations, among others.
